And here we are.. our first pedigree Philippus Dexter calf Rita is tagged. Tagging is done within one week of birth, we were keen and did it on the third day once Mum was calm and everyone relaxed.There are two tags, one for each ear. A larger tag and a smaller circular one that contains our unique herd number. JJ did a fabulous job of ensuring the tags were attached between the two veins running through our calf for a simple and quick process for identification. Mum watching at all times, Rita was back with the herd in minutes. A legal requirement, we smashed this one.. just seven more seamless ones to go..
